Inside My World
My dual life – Engineer By Day & Travel Content Creator by Night
Hello! I’m Janice, though many of you may know me as ithinkitsJanice. My journey began under the radiant sun of Puerto Rico, my birthplace and the “Isla del Encanto.” Later, armed with a Mechanical Engineering degree, I ventured to the States, embracing a promising opportunity in the corporate world. Now, I’m happily settled in Florida, a place I adore, working from home for corporate America, yet my passion for travel and exploration takes me far and wide.
Balancing my life, by day, I delve into the complexities of engineering, I work as a PowerBI expert analyzing data for companies in Fortune 500. I know I don’t talk much about this as I like separating work from my blog. By night, I pursue my passion as a content creator, sharing the stories of my travels with my online community. This brings me immense joy. While you can catch glimpses of my adventures on social media, here on my blog, I try to delve deeper, providing richer stories behind each journey.
So, dive in and come along for an exploration filled with surprises and delights! Join me as I navigate through my colorful world, a blend of spontaneous travels, the beauty of nature, and curated experiences.
Diet & Lifestyle
At home, I usually fast 18-20 hours daily and my diet is all organic and whole-foods-based. I invest in grass-fed meats and pasture-raised eggs – I rather spend money on quality food rather than yucky medicine. Yet, when I step out, dietary rules go out the window! I steer clear of fast food, with rare exceptions.
Travel ignites my passion for diverse cuisines, from healthy Acai bowls to deep-fried delights (ever had an “alcapurria”? Because I have and I will never say no to one). This mix keeps me balanced and and happy.
Dealing with a back injury means I can’t stay still for long. I have a sedentary lifestyle with my work from home 9-5, but that is why I love staying active. Even during the winter which I reallyyyy dislike, I force myself to get out of the house, but lets be honest, when I decide to stay in and be a potato, I still opt for my vibrating plate (it’s not a sexual thing pervs! hahaha) as a key part of my wellness toolkit. It helps me stay active despite not leaving the house.
I’m all about holistic health, using a Thera gun, suction cups, and natural remedies over toxic/poisonous pharmaceuticals – a practice my family once called me crazy for but now respects. This journey through pain has taught me to listen to my body. And I’m excited to share that my goal for 2024 is to become a certified yoga instructor in India. Let’s see if my busy lifestyle permits for this and job. So, watch this space for more!
Hobbies
I am a woman of many talents, a veritable jack-of-all-trades. In the span of 2020 to 2021, I embarked on an exhilarating journey into the world of car drifting. I dove headfirst, learning the ins and outs, launching my Jeva Driftera YouTube channel, opening a new Instagram account just for cars (@jevadriftera) and fully immersing myself in the culture. Unfortunately, despite my deep passion for drifting and the sheer joy it brings me, life’s priorities shifted. In 2022, I bought a house, and in 2023, another followed, effectively redirecting my budget away from this expensive pursuit. However, I’m holding onto the hope that I’ll revisit drifting in the future when finances permit.
Meanwhile, to satisfy my craving for adrenaline, I acquired a 1983 Honda Magna. I’ve been teaching myself to ride in empty lots, though I’ve yet to take the official classes for my license or tackle the DMV paperwork. Adulting is, quite frankly, SUPER hard. There’s a universe of things I’m eager to do, but financial constraints are a reality – for now, at least! In the midst of this, I’m caught up in renovating my bathroom, which is both time-consuming and costly.
But life isn’t all high-speed thrills. I also love traveling, the gym, playing board games, and yes – CONTENT CREATION, DUHH. And while it might be debatable as a hobby, I can’t deny my love for shopping. That too has been put on hold with my recent investments in real estate. So there you have it – a snapshot of my hobbies and their current state. Stay tuned, though; the adventure never ends!
Travels
Soooo, come join me on a journey through my travel diaries, where each destination is a chapter filled with its own unique story. My journey into memorable travel truly began in Hawaii, a place where the aloha spirit and majestic waves provided a captivating escape into paradise.
As a child, I had traveled, but those early trips are mere whispers of memories compared to the vivid impressions of Hawaii (2013). The adventure continued in Greece (2017), where the allure of sapphire seas drew me to the exhilarating Yacht Week. There, I was swept into a world where the thrill of sailing harmonized with the vibrant pulse of the Grecian nightlife.
My travels across the United States have been a patchwork of diverse experiences: from California to New York. Visited Georgia, Connecticut and many other states. Now, I’ve settled in Florida’s sunlit embrace, yet my heart still recalls Arizona’s panoramic vistas and North Carolina’s verdant beauty. My past in Virginia’s historic neighborhoods, along with strolls among Washington DC’s monuments and Maryland’s landmarks, has deepened my appreciation for America’s multifaceted legacy.
Venturing across the Atlantic, I immersed myself in Croatia’s coastal splendor, before moving on to France’s romantic boulevards. The stark beauty of Iceland’s icy realms contrasted starkly with the sun-kissed trails of Spain, where I embarked on the transformative journey of El Camino de Santiago and soaked in the vibrant life of Madrid and Valencia. Memories of Barcelona’s architectural marvels, Malaga’s seaside serenity, Italy’s gastronomic pleasures, and the Bahamas’ crystal-clear waters are etched in my mind, each a precious gem in my collection of travel experiences. Join me as I recount these tales, offering a glimpse into the wanderlust that fuels my soul.
